Mom was Right

July 30, 2009

The older I get, the more I realize how right my parents were about a lot of things. Seth Godin’s blog post today reminded me of this old chestnut: “You are known by the company you keep.”

Mom with her 5th grandchild, my son George

Her eldest daughter didn't always take her advice. Maybe her grandson will gain wisdom sooner.

Oh, the eye rolls that followed when Mom said I better associate with people who’d be a good influence. “Hang around with people who are a bad influence, and you’ll git like them,” she warned. “Riiiiight,” I said, not buying a word of it.

I shoulda listened. But better to learn late than not at all.

Thanks, Mom!
