Family Fun in the Front Yard

July 20, 2009

Quiet week in North Raleigh. Dean, George and I stayed close to home and kept it simple: mowing and weeding, eating popsicles on the front porch, flying foam gliders.

Probably the most surprising fun was watching Dean create gigantic bubbles in the front yard. He used a kit with a plastic orange pole and a sliding orange strap on the end. You dip the straps into soapy water and slowly slide the strap back as you wave it through the air.

George watches his Pop create another bubble.

George springs at the bubble.

George springs at the bubble.

Its works best in humidity, so we were out of luck. Today, like much of this summer so far, has been unseasonably dry.

What do you do for inexpensive family fun?
